Welcome to Indian Hills Homestead!

Who we are

Hello and thanks for visiting our page! We are a 6 family homestead nestled in a little corner of North Vernon, Indiana. We attend the local farmers markets, and when we aren't there, we are tending to our flocks of chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail and rabbits. We also have multiple gardens that we have berries and produce from. We sure have a busy life, but we would not have it any other way!
Right now we specialize in poultry eggs, baked goods, and jams.

Here's a list of everything that we currently offer from our food menu!

Our Animals

Chickens

Our flock is comprised of a great variety of chickens. We have everything from buff orphingtons, barred rocks, copper marans, leghorns, and a big mixture of all. As our hens get older, we incubate the eggs to have new egg layers for the coming spring.
We have white, brown, cream, blue and green eggs! A mix of our eggs is put into each carton before selling them at the markets. We carry the Purdue Egg Board certification for safe handling and selling!

Turkeys

Currently we have Heritage Bronze Turkeys. Our small flock is comprised of one tom and three hens. We are hoping to expand our flock more by the spring of 2021.
Our turkey eggs are only for sell as hatching eggs. If you would be interested in a set, please let us know!

Ducks

Our duck flock is a group of jumbo pekins and regular pekins. Their eggs are delicious! They are the eggs that I make all of our baked goods with. While we cannot sell their eggs at the farmers market, we are allowed to sell them from home. If you would like a dozen for yourself, just let us know!

Quail

Our quail flocks are Jumbo Coturnix quail. While we mainly keep them for egg production, we are also exploring them for meat as well. We keep our flocks in groups of 4 females to 1 male. We cannot sell their eggs at the farmers market, but we are allowed to sell them from home. We have eating eggs and also hatching eggs from our groups. If you would like either one, just let us know! We also constantly hatch their eggs and sell day old chicks and also sexed groups if you would like to try your hand at raising quail. The color varieties that we carry are feather sexable at 3 to 4 weeks old, and begin laying eggs at 8 to 12 weeks old.
